The Mountainous Bang Theory tells the tale of 4 young geniuses, as they pick up it will consume more than book-smarts to navigate the unchartered waters of relationships in the exact world. The TV sitcom is not tiresome. Chuck Lorre has resurrected the universe of comdey with The Mountainous Bang Theory, Monday nights at 7:00 PM CST. Hysterically, laugh out loud, belly-bustingly amusing, this display is not to be missed.
The premise is novel and fun: two young, genius, nerdy, socially awkward science professors named Sheldon and Leonard portion an apartment. Across the hall, in moves Penny – a sweet, lovely, blond bombshell who waitresses at the Cheesecake Factory. Leonard immediately falls for her. Penny cares for Leonard, but she loves him like a brother…
It is a phenomenon how unbelievably amusing this point to is. The writing is radiant, creative, and consistent. The characterizations are masterful and avoid being over the top. The acting and silly timing are inspired. This cohesive ensemble cast jelled from day one, and has never looked abet. As laughable and wacky as this note is, every time I witness it, I reflect “I KNOW these people. I know people unprejudiced like them.” (Yes, I am a science and engineering geek. I have a Master’s Degree in physics.) Somehow, in the midst of all the zany hilarity, the world created by these talented folks is actual, comfortable, and familiar. The details in this note are fantastic, and add to the realism. Clearly everyone interested in this trouble cares, and that is what makes Expansive Bang work so well.
If you haven’t seen Gigantic Bang, give it a try. Your sides will ache from laughing so hard. As an added bonus, the theme song is catchy and sung by Bare Naked Ladies. And don’t forget to hit discontinue as Chuck Lorre’s placards pop up at the extinguish of each episode.

I am going to withhold this short and sweet. The series is wonderful, I loved every small of it. So when they decided to release in the US finally I rushed out an bought it. BUT, It is the worst translation and snort acting I have ever heard. The dubbed version is dismal, and I will never listen to that again. TokyoPOP if you ever witness this review, bag your act together, it was outrageous, end to the new anime, do not accomplish up your have garbage storyline!!! Discover the series, but build distinct to do it subtitled, do not listen to the garbage that Tokyopop did.

This movie/series is for car racing fans out there. If you are not into racing, it will be dumb for you and the movie will seem predicable. The main point of the movie is that no one expects a young guy driving an worn car could out race/battle all/most the fresh and HIGH POWER engine car. Don’t be fooled by the AIP pedigree of “De Sade.” If you demand something like the inventive charge of Roger Corman’s low-budget Poe adaptations, you will be seriously disappointed. For this misguided grief is both expensive and serious enough to manage the dubious achievement of making the Marquis de Sade stupid.
It is by no means an ordinary failure. Visible talent went into it, and in fact the most arresting thing about the film is trying to figure out what went depraved. No doubt Richard Matheson’s script, which has de Sade dropping in and out of fantasies and memories that may or may not be fraction of theatrical performances (there’s a lot of “may or may not” in this movie) is piece of the plight. This complex structure does nothing to add coherence to an opaque character, but in the correct hands, say a Roger Vadim or a Mario Bava, it might at least acquire for a lushly fruity, passably attractive movie.
I’ve seen only one other film by “De Sade’s” director, Cy Endfield, the outpost-of-Empire adventure film “Zulu.” It’s a conservative, occasionally aesthetic bit of film making. Here, he tries all too obviously to gain the film “visual,” and “stylish,” with complex camera movements, shock cutting, disorienting filters, and overripe decor. In the anguish to be freewheeling, buxom beauties plunge in and out of de Sade’s bed, dwarves verbalize his toys on cue, a lot of bric-a-brac gets broken, curtains slashed, paintings burned, repeatedly and endlessly until you can’t succor wondering if de Sade’s jam is simply having too worthy time and money on his hands. This trash heap of elaborately empty mannerisms proves only that Endfield has no sense at all of what to do with the material.

Keir Dullea turns in as creditable a performance as possible under circumstances that include his total miscasting. That he isn’t convincing for a moment is almost a compliment. It’s difficult to imagine how he could be any better when you can’t believe of anyone who *would* be ample for the allotment.
When writer, director and cast prove the same symptoms of afflict, that’s a comely genuine mark that the film should never have been made. There may be a well-behaved movie somewhere in the life of de Sade, but this strained, overcooked mishmash certainly isn’t it.
Screen writer Richard Matheson [Stir of Echoes (1999) ; Omega Man (1971) ] tells the yarn of an elderly Marquis de Sade [played by Keir Dullea / Dark Christmas (1974) ; 2001: A Plot Odyssey (1968) ] laying in his death bed thinking about his life and his struggles for freedom. Twenty-eight of his seventy four years were spent in prison, as he was often “…hounded by the police on charges of inflammatory writings…” Telling the account of de Sade from childhood to manhood through flashbacks and surreal theatre sets; the movie gives a explore at the innocent boy who was too often a victim of the “perverse brutality” of others. As he grows, so do his tastes. “…He exacts his sexual pleasure from the tender flesh of the women of France…” Filmed under heavy German guard at the royal palace of Charlottenburg and Saint Nikola’s Cathedral in West Berlin the movie’s sets and costumes are wonderful. Like the Hammer Studios alarm films, the movie is more a period allotment than pure exploitation, yet it’s subject matter alone is irresistible trash for any collector of unpleasant movies. Uniquely a 1960’s film, it was aimed at the Samuel Z. Arkoff produced Roger Corman [The Trudge (1967) / Wild Angels (1966) ] drive-in crowd. Surprisingly gross on violence and / or nudity, and any that collected remains has been filtered with an annoying purple jel over the camera lens to avoid censorship from the higher ups. Exiguous xtras on the disc besides a trailer and short interview with Richard Matheson. A commentary track would have been arresting, but peaceful grateful that MGM dusted this one off the shelf in the first site. Collectors should be on the lookout for Peter Brook’s Marat / Sade (1966) also released on the under the Avant-Garde Cinema collection.

I am biased, I’ll utter you that up front. Kurosawa is my well-liked director. Even if he were not, I would smooth worship this film.
Takashi Shimura (the head samurai in “Seven Samurai”) plays an alcoholic doctor in a dumpy urban fragment of post-war Tokyo. Toshiro Mifune plays a small-time gangster who initially visits the doctor regarding a bullet harm. The doctor discovers that the gangster also has tuberculosis, and stubbornly tries to treat it. I say stubbornly because the gangster tries to act macho about the disease. The two charactors are both so strongly portrayed that the doctor’s attempt to treat the disease and the gangster’s faked but desperate non-chalance makes their relationship a struggle; at times they actually near to blows over the doctor’s persistence. The doctor, I deem, sees something of himself in the gangster; someone on the edge of society, someone with flaws, someone with unfulfilled dreams. The doctor wants the gangster to survive, and the gangster desperately wants to survive, but his “toughness” keeps him from admitting that he wants to live.

In any event, my wife and I topple in savor with the doctor everytime that we witness this film. He is the better angel of our nature, scolding and caring. Gaze the film; you too will drop in treasure with it.
The key to “Drunken Angel” is the two main characters, both flawed and somewhat nobel. Mifune is Matsunaga, a mighty gangster coming to grips with his occupy weakness. He has tuberculosis. Shimura plays Dr. Sanada, a beneficial hearted doctor who’s weakness for alcohol has left him in the lower depths of society. When Mifune arrives to be treated for a gunshot pain, Shimura sees something in him, and attempts to treat him for his TB.
This uneasy friendship, and the balance of the two characters as they score to know each other, is the strength of “Drunken Angel.” Both performances are lively. The place though-provoking a gang boss released from jail, allows the two characters to execute with each other. The direction is tight and controlled.

I can’t wait for this DVD collection to advance out. Hopefully it doesn’t cessation with the first season and also give us a chance to search for again He-man, Voltron, M.A.S.K, Gem (jk!!!) . I opinion about ordering this DVD region for some time but had held off. I opinion it was rather pricey. Along came by birthday, though, and I decided to retract myself a dinky something….
I forgot how friendly this note really was. It was incredibly exact to the each of the characters and everything at this point. The yelp actors are an all star cast as well.
The remastering job was very noble when you judge what they had to work with to commence. They cleaned up a lot of noise and dirt off of the film and made the colors a lot more intelligent and obvious. There are some occasional sound effects added, but they are not intrustive and not that frequent, really. A couple of scenes in “Heavy Metal War”, the last episode on the disc, turned out dazzling awful, but otherwise they did an awesome job restoring this first season urge, even including the modern opening of the reveal and the commercial bumpers.

I am collected annoyed by the constant coloring mistakes made by the recent animators of the exhibit. I guess it’s portion of the charm, and it’s probably best that Rhino left them like they were. I remember these coloring mistakes in the current series honest as well, and it even bothered me relieve then in 1984-85 that Sunbow couldn’t seem to deliver the inequity between Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp most of the time (though as the series goes on past the first 5 or 6, they DO catch better about it…build for the fragment in Heavy Metal War where there are two Starscreams side by side, one of which was supposed to be Skywarp) .
I wish Rhino would recall out the dull cartoon openings on their videos and DVDs, though. While I know they are mostly a children’s video company, with things like Transformers and GI Joe, they are mostly catering to adults…adults who don’t want to sit through a cartoon rhino dressed like Elvis at the initiate of each disc while we wait for the menu to appear.
Overall, if you grew up with this new series of Transformers, as I did, you will very powerful delight in this residence. I enjoyed every diminutive of it, and can hardly wait until slow November now, where Rhino releases the first half of Season 2 in a box site. The second half of Season 2 follows in the Spring.

True Romance is one of those enormous films that was rather unfairly and bizarrely largely ignored on it’s modern theatrical release but it’s really hard to know why. It’s not because of the script/screenplay, that was written by the gargantuan Quentin Tarantino, with all the trademark flourishes you’d examine, with witty dialogue and tall set-pieces that leave you quoting them for weeks. It’s not because it’s got a unpleasant cast or bad acting. Apart from the leads, Christian Slater and the fabulous Patricia Arquette (in undoubtedly their greatest conceal performances), this movie has a cast list like a whose who of gigantic camouflage actors; Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman and Christopher Walken. It also boasts a huge cameo performance from Brad Pitt and a excellent supporting performance from (the then not so eminent) James Gandolfino. Val Kilmer and Samuel L. Jackson even turn up too in blink and you’ll miss it performances.
This is a vast movie, a chilly movie, a comic movie and an action movie. Directed by Tony Scott, one of the best (if not the best) action movie directors around, Moral Romance is the myth of Alabama (Arquette) and Clarence (Slater) young newlywed lovers on the speed with a stolen suitcase tubby of $5m worth of the mafia’s coke, which they intend to sell. But as the worn saying goes, the path to moral savor never runs collected and a battle of wits ensues between Clarence, the police and the mob leading to a classic finale in this action packed film. As a whole, this movie works beautifully but on DVD it’s even better because you can access all your favourite classic scenes that unmistakeably bare Tarantino’s hallmark again and again. Such as the opening scene where the heterosexual Clarence (Slater) states that he’d sleep with Elvis if he were detached alive, or the showdown between Clarence and dreadlocked gangster (Oldman) . Or the showdown between the mob boss (Walken) and Clarence’s Dad (Hopper) . Classic scenes indeed, particularly the one with Walken and Hopper. It’s hard to hold this movie was made support in 1993 because it’s collected as original, serene as wintry and unexcited looks as delightful as it was aid then. I unbiased savor this movie and if you haven’t seen it yet I hope you will too.
I really wish Brad Pitt would judge reprising his role as the stoner Floyd someday cause he absolutely stole the show-he’s hysterical. Some of the classic Tarantino lines of all time, several adlibs, and phenomenal scenes that are device outside the edge of reality, but it works. A better ensemble cast than anything else you’re liable to acquire. Was this Gandolfini’s first “sensitive hitman” role? Patricia Arquette is yummy, Hopper is in rare get, Walken is as menacing as he is strange, Oldman makes a substantial pimp, we win out about Samuel L’s sexual preferences, and Slater manages to turn in a credible understated but high energy performance. A monument to the Nintendo generation I hiss but a sizable movie worth watching over and over again. Oh yeah, if you’re fast to bellow “ripoff” when you discover a road movie that resembles Proper Romance, NBK, Freeway, Esteem and a 45, etc then retract up a copy of Badlands with Martin Sheen. Tarantino makes better movies than his predecessors but he’s borrowed an view or two along the design. 5 Snorts.
Now, the unique “Unrated” Director’s Reduce. well, they really can’t call it unrated since not one single change was made from the novel release. The sound and record are far capable to the current DVD however, and there are a few extras rabid fans will like. Especially the commentary by Michael Rappaport and Brad Pitt. The ‘deleted’ scenes aren’t worth talking about. Unlit actually. And the alternate ending…..thank god they didn’t go with that one. If you don’t already absorb the DVD then this one is for you. If you are thinking about getting this one for the added converse you may want to contemplate twice. The extras honest aren’t worth it.

its sure that dreamworks simply wanted to achieve this out as snappy as they possiby could to cash in on the hype. it shows simply from the fact that the japanese got their dvd in november.. now how often does an anime advance out here 1 month after the japanese release? usually it takes a year.
i bought this because i admire the movie, but i wish someone else would have gotten the rights to it. if dreamworks acquires another ample anime.. i will scream.
there is no doubt in my mind that within a year or two from now there will be a “special” version that will have Precise special features, better artwork and packaging, and OH MY GOD an english track.
Basically it will be the version that should have been from the get-go.
Screw you dreamworks, you don’t know what the fans want. you’re anime distrubiting ways sicken me. why couldn’t you unbiased let bandai/manga accept the rights to this seeing how THEY HAVE THE REST OF THE FRANCHISE UNDER THEIR BELT. bandai would have made this the device it should have been.
I do not know who at Dreamworks was responsible for this travesty of a DVD, but I would like to meet them so that I could roar them in person what a total hash they have made of the best anime (and one of the best films PERIOD) of the year. Never mind the imbecilic screen art (which in no blueprint reflects the breath-taking art in the film) – WHAT is the rationale for HEARING IMPAIRED subtitles?? I always exhaust subtitles – but as so many other people have written, I don’t need to be informed of the sounds in the background. The theatrical release didn’t have such intrusive subtitles – why are they here?!?! And let’s face it – dubbing is not exactly a novelty on ANY foreign DVD: why not produce it available here? I can only buy that, as usual, the corporate honchos at Dreamworks didn’t actually Discover this, and handed it off to some hack who got their job because of quick-witted someBODY, not because they were competant. I will be waiting for Dreamworks (or maybe someone else with more intelligence) to re-release this. In the meantime – DON’T kill your money on THIS DVD – rent it if you want to peer it, but Screech Dreamworks any more dough until they pick up their act together and set out a quality DVD that this film so richly deserves.

I like Teen Titans. It’s a very different steal on the DC characters than Batman, Superman, and Justice League, and there are determined anime influences in the fight scenes and gags. What’s nice about the series is that while it generally writes towards a younger audience, it’s never so simplistic that it alienates the older crowd. The chemistry between the five leads is immense, and there are occasional moments of lunacy that will originate you wonder if the staff is secretly taking anything in the help room (ie the Furious Mod episode) . Plus season 1’s underlying subplot absorbing Slade (voiced expertly by Ron ‘Hellboy’ Perlman) is as shadowy and driven as anything in the Batman shows. The only time this reveal falls flat for me is when it puts stylized action over sage essentials, which some of the early episodes here drop into.
Again, this residence collects material that WB has already released. I consider even the bulk of the bonus features have been carried over. I’m hoping this was a sudden shift in WB’s animation-on-dvd strategy as opposed to milking the consumer with re-releases, as the single discs were already quite suitable in their absorb device. A stout consideration if you haven’t purchased the frail discs yet, titanic for kids but adults should accumulate some amusement too.
I’ll admit, I wasn’t feeling particularly hopeful for “Teen Titans” when I saw the first previews. We were already seeing quite a few sharp shows copying the style of Japanese animation as it became more accepted. So it was a very sterling suprise when I found that “Teen Titans” not only featured a remarkable deeper opinion of the workings of anime, but also focused on top notch pronounce acting and character centered storytelling. It took them an episode or two to really net their footing, but once they did, “Teen Titans” was one of the best shows on television, and later seasons only improved on what had been position up. I can search for how the employ of the more cartoony aspects of anime – super-deformed characters, anime inspired wild takes, and the like – might turn some people off, but do yourself a favor and gaze a few episodes. The four star rating (as opposed to five) is largely because of the special features. There are two “Making Of” documentaries with the roar actors and exhibit creators, which are shapely apt. There’s the fun music video of the theme song. The interview with Japanese songsters Puffy Ami Yumi is fun, but a puny too long, and the map of having the Titans “conduct the interview” is exquisite lame. The short two fraction cartoon, “The Hiro’s” (yes, I know that apostrophe doesn’t belong there, but that’s how they spell it) is rather terrible and unfunny. But the biggest plight is something that’s left off the DVD, namely commentary. WB has been notoriously dumb to observe how mighty fans want episode commentary, with only 3 to 4 commentaries on the Batman and Superman DVDs. Commentray with cast and crew for “Teen Titans” would have been big. But despite a somewhat miniature site of special features, “Teen Titans – Season One” is deifinitely worth picking up.

This movie is a honorable successor to the fresh Fantasia movie. The artwork in all the pieces was honorable (although, you could assert the art from “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” is primitive) . This movie, as with the novel, gave me a greater appreciation of classical music, while bewitching me with impressive visual imagery.

Beethoven, Symphony #5. A classical share of music (who can’t identify it upon hearing it? ) portrayed as a capable vs. imperfect contest.
Respighi, Pines of Rome. Flying whales!! A colossal section of music which builds to a fabulous do. Has some cute moments with a baby whale.

Gershwin, Rhapsody in Blue. Easily the best (and longest) share in the movie. Done in the drawing style of Al Hirschfeld, a magical fable is told of four people in Depression-era Current York. A heartwarming, attractive section.
Shostakovich, Piano Concerto # 2 Allegro Opus 102. A charming part of music, venerable to verbalize the yarn of the Steadfast Tin Solder. Some of the scenes in this part may be scary for small kids.

Saint-Saens, Carnival of the Animals, Finale. A (very) short, but very humorous part which answers the age weak question: “What happens when you give a flamingo a yo-yo? ” I was laughing out loud at this one.
Dukas, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. This is the same allotment as from the unique 1940 movie. Level-headed worth watching after all these years.

Elgar, Pomp and Circumstance. Donald and Daisy Duck star in this reinactment of the yarn of Noah’s Ark. Fun to glance and savory.
Stravinsky, Firebird Suite. A fabulous account about life, death and rebirth. The part builds to a improbable ending, both in the yarn and in the music. Some of the younger children may be terrified by some of the scenes in this allotment as well.
Overall, this movie is a fantastic addition to any home video library.
I was fortunate enough to witness this at an IMAX theater. It was an wonderful experience, to be surrounded by such wondrous music and imagery. The animation is of the highest quality, seamlessly blending recent and older styles. It will be curious to study how the film plays out on a more intimate veil.
Although some of the pieces stand out more than others, they all had charm. ” The Pines of Rome” is the most common segment, featuring lush computer animation of blue whales soaring through the arctic ice until they hold off into the sky. Disney really did a job on this one, with fair enough of a anecdote to balance out the imagery. Clearly borrowing from the art of Charles Vess, “Firebird Suite” is a shapely fairy portion with a bit of fire and disaster. “Rhapsody in Blue” is as discontinuance to perfect as you need to accept, blending a ample Gershwin tune with Al Hersfield’s familiar style. And of course, one can never glean enough yo-yoing flamingos.
My personal popular is “Pomp and Circumstance,” as it made me hear a fraction of music, and not unprejudiced the background track to graduation ceremonies. It really took me by surprise, and this is always a superior thing. I also really enjoyed the participation of Donald Duck, who is usually my least popular Disney character. It is a very heart warming segment.
